Shedding Light on Jyotisha

Shedding_Light_on_Jy_Cover_for_KindleI am happy to announce that my next book, Shedding Light on JyotishaVedic Astrology For Beginners, is completed and now available for purchase! In Shedding Light on Jyotisha I explain the basics and fundamentals for learning how to read a Vedic Astrology birth chart. This book would benefit anyone new to studying Vedic Astrology or astrology in general, and those wanting to learn how to read their own birth chart. It would also benefit anyone who wants to refresh their astrological knowledge, as well as those who are familiar with Western Astrology and now want to delve into Vedic Astrology.

Excerpt from the Introduction:

I began studying Jyotisha, or Vedic Astrology, after getting a reading from a friend of mine in 2004. I had studied Western Astrology here and there for many years before then, but this was my first exposure to the light of Jyotisha. I was immediately drawn to studying it, immersing myself into the few books I found at the nearby esoteric bookstore.

There were so many new concepts to learn, such as the Nakshatras, and gunas, and dashas, and divisional charts, oh and the Hindu mythology! Some things I was familiar with from studying yoga and healing modalities, including some Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, and though I also had an educational background in the ancient languages and the mythology and symbolism of the classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian worlds, the Sanskrit terminology and mythological references from India made studying Vedic Astrology as a beginner a bit overwhelming at times, to say the least.

Though there are a few very good beginning Vedic Astrology books out there, I wanted to put together an even simpler book that would provide beginning students of astrology and those interested in learning Jyotisha, even if just for themselves, a foundation of the basic knowledge needed to read a birth chart, and a birth chart only, for this knowledge is an important foundation for further study into Vedic Astrology.

In this beginner’s book on Jyotisha I will be shedding light on the zodiacs, the planets, the signs, and the houses, as well as the basics for interpreting a birth chart and transits. I hope this book is helpful and insightful for many! Namaste _/l\_

Shedding Light on JyotishaVedic Astrology For Beginner’s, is now available at Amazon, Amazon Canada, Amazon India, Amazon UK, and international Amazon stores, Barnes & Noble, and other smaller bookstores.

Hi. Does your book give introduction to the nakshatras, gunas, and dashas? –thank you.

    • It does introduce the nakshatras, gunas, grahas, rashis, bhavas, purusaarthas, and the basics for interpreting a chart.

Great! Already sounds complicated (: — But seriously, I am glad you wrote this & I will buy it! Can you tell me where/how you learned Vedic astrology? thx.

      • Thanks! I am mostly self-studied – Books and studying actual charts, for years sometimes. 🙂

Great. Thanks. I recently became somewhat convinced Vedic is more accurate, just based on comparing my own inner experience of whats going on vs. what the astrologers are saying…so I want to learn more. With the Indians, there is a language and cultural barrier. Then, with the Western Vedic astrologers I see out there, it feels so dense, somehow, I can’t seem to enter into it from there, either. So, I hope your book will help me take a baby step into this profound study!

  2. Congrats Julianne. What a lovely cover. I hope you top Amazon Sales ❤
