About Me

up_and_away

My name is Julianne Victoria, and I am a Writer, Spiritual Counselor, and an Intuitive Shamanic Healer in Santa Barbara, CA. For Sessions & Readings information please click here. And for those who want to know a little about me and my educational and work background, please read on…

Education

I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. I attended UC Davis as an undergrad, studying Classics and German. I remember at the end of my freshman year, as I walked to one of my finals, that I thought: how cool it would be to become an astrologer! But, I didn’t know how someone went about doing that, so I decided to keep doing what I was doing and see where that went. Little did I realize then that my Classics studies – Latin, Ancient Greek, and the mythology, philosophy, and art and archaeology of Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome – was actually setting up a firm foundation to become an astrologer!

In 1997 I moved to Seattle, WA in the Pacific Northwest where I attended the University of Washington doing graduate work in Historical Linguistics, which combined both my love of language and my love of archaeology and ancient civilizations. After a couple of years, however, I felt that my life needed a change of course. I had completed a third degree in Linguistics while doing my graduate studies, and suddenly knew that becoming a language and linguistics teacher/instructor wasn’t my path. Both from messages in my dreams and from indications and signs from my competitive running, I made a sharp turn and changed course to sail on towards a career in healing.

Healing

In 2000 I attended massage school, and have had a private healing practice ever since. My focus for many years was on injury treatment, emotional healing, and preventive care, where I utilized Deep Tissue, Myofascial, Neuromuscular, and Structural Integration techniques, as well as Chakra Healing, Reiki, Craniosacral Therapy, and Energywork. I have also done additional education in Ayurvedic Healing and Massage, Yoga Therapy, and Reflexology. My clientele is very diverse, but from 2000-2012 I specialized on working with athletes. I was the therapist for the University of Washington Cross-country and Track and Field teams, and would also see athletes from the Swimming and Football teams. I also had the opportunity to work on several Olympic medalists and even a World Record holder!

Teaching and Coaching

Since my time at UC Davis, I have been teaching and coaching. I tutored students in German and Latin, taught Latin at the high school and German at a private middle school, and was a substitute teacher for a year in all subjects. I also coached Cross-country and Track for the Davis middle schools. In Seattle, I taught at a mixed-age kindergarten before beginning my graduate studies, and then tutored UW student-athletes in various language and English courses. I coached adult runners, both in training groups and as a personal health and running/fitness coach from 1999-2011. When I became a healer, I taught at massage schools – kinesiology, physiology, technique, etc. – from 2002-2006. In 2009 I co-taught a few workshops on Chakra Healing, Meditation and Journaling, and Tarot, and from 2013-2021 I taught various in-person workshops and online courses.

Tarot, Astrology, Metaphysics, Etc.

In 1996 I received my first Tarot deck. I remember feeling almost overwhelmed by the layers of symbolic language in them. I’d look at the cards, but trying to do readings would just flood me with sensations and information. At that time it was download overload, so I set them aside only pulling them out every couple of months or so to study them. Then in 2004, I set sail on another exploration.

Though continuing as a healer, I suddenly had the energy to dive right into the deep end and delve intensively into studying not only Tarot, but also both Vedic and Western Astrology. Since a little girl I had always been drawn to astrology and the mystical, and I had studied a bit here and there. Since 2005, I have consistently been studying astrology and all things mystical, metaphysical, and spiritual (including religions, yoga, psychology, and philosophy).

I began doing Tarot and Vedic Astrology readings professionally in 2005, and added in Western Astrology readings a few years after that. In 2012 when I moved back to California, I decided to flip the weight of my work focus. Up through 2012 it had been mainly healing and massage therapy with some spiritual counseling, along with the tools of astrology and tarot, on the side. Now my focus is on the spiritual counseling, along with Distance Reiki & Shamanic Healing and energy work (though I feel this is automatically part of every session). Though I began writing in 2008, since my move in 2012, writing and creating has also become a central focus, which I view as an important extension of spiritual counseling, life coaching, teaching, and healing.
